I finished the book and like it a lot!The typos are hardly visible. Also remember, I am not an english expert. It is interesting that it is called a novel...it does not read like that to me at some points. It is an interesting concept and is very easy to read, totally accessible.
I think you are definately a writer - your way of expression comes out naturally and greatly. The way you describe certain things it sounds as if you were an experienced writer. Aside from the poetry itself, you are certainly a natural poet...some descriptions are poetical. I was glad to hear how Crisitian and you communicate so greatly at a certain level. It sounds great - you both are on the same wave length...a very sincronized way of thinking... but your way to express parts of the story are grand.
I liked it, I enjoyed it, and I got the point, which was very clear. I admire your writing and for a first time novel, it is superb!
I look forward for you to write other stories, perhaps mine? How about that, eh? Perhaps you are going to became the writer of the immigrants...what a series ha?
